Schacht boat shuttles are beautifully shaped and well balanced. All boat shuttles are made from hard maple. They are sanded smooth and then given a hand-rubbed Danish oil finish.
Start with shed clearance and how much weft you want to carry. Shuttle length is not a maximum loom or warp width.
| Shuttle | Fit & capacity |
|---|---|
| 11″ Slim Maple |
Shed fit: Narrower, lower profile than the regular boat shuttle; useful when shed clearance is limited. Width: 11″ long; no numeric loom-width limit verified. Weight: Unloaded weight not verified. Yarn capacity: Takes a 4″ bobbin; holds less yarn than the regular model. |
| 12″ End Delivery |
Shed fit: Check clearance before choosing; profile dimensions not verified. Width: 12″ long; no numeric loom-width limit verified. Weight: Unloaded weight not verified. Yarn capacity: Takes a stationary 6″ pirn, not a boat-shuttle bobbin; adjustable weft tension. |
| 11″ Closed Bottom Maple |
Shed fit: Regular profile; needs more clearance than the slim model. Closed bottom provides a smooth glide. Width: 11″ long; no numeric loom-width limit verified. Weight: Unloaded weight not verified; no heavier-than-open claim confirmed. Yarn capacity: Takes a 4″ bobbin; regular body holds more yarn than the slim model. |
| 11″ Open Bottom Maple |
Shed fit: Regular profile; needs more clearance than the slim model. Open bottom allows finger access to stop the bobbin. Width: 11″ long; no numeric loom-width limit verified. Weight: Unloaded weight not verified. Yarn capacity: Takes a 4″ bobbin; regular body holds more yarn than the slim model. |
Actual yarn capacity depends on yarn thickness and winding. Bobbin and pirn lengths are compatibility measurements, not directly comparable yarn capacities. For a wide warp, consider shed clearance and shuttle handling rather than choosing by shuttle length alone.
Bobbins sold separately. The end-delivery shuttle uses a 6″ pirn; winding pirns requires a double-ended or electric bobbin winder.
