1.5 Walk in + Weave with 2 shuttles

Walk-in + Weave is exactly what it means! Come in, sit down at one of our pre-warped looms and start weaving. It’s as simple as that.

But this has a twist!

You will learn how to weave with 2 shuttles. We have Huck Lace and Overshot, structures that use 2 shuttles to create the design. 

Floor looms are already warped and ready. We will have varying colors of weft for students to choose from.

You need to have some experience to weave on these looms.

Here’s what you will learn in this class: 

1. How to follow a treadling pattern with your feet.

2. How to "lock" the edges or use a floating selvedge. 

3. How to use 2 shuttles, keeping your selvedge even, how to start a new weft, all the terminology to speak weaving and much more!

4. How to remember where you are in the sequence.

5. You will receive 2 hours of analog learning + a skill + a handmade piece

Walk in + Weave with 2 shuttles is one of our first steps in learning to weave. We believe in repetition and helping students find where their passions lay. If you don't like the act of weaving, you may or may not like all the other steps involved in the process. 

This class lasts no more than 2 hours. Weaving times vary per student. 

You'll be leaving with your very own woven cloth — how exciting! Weaving is a wonderful process that takes time, and part of the magic is that we never quite know how long your cloth will be until your time is up and it's complete! 

We weave in bare feet. The treadles are close together making large bottom shoes ineffective for moving from treadle to treadle. Socks are also acceptable so please dress accordingly!
